THE VIBES reported today that Makkal Sakti president Datuk Seri R. S. Thanenthiran is calling for the ruling government to consider renaming the North-South Expressway to Tun Samy Vellu Highway as a homage to the late Works Minister's contributions to the nation.

In a press statement at the late minister's wake, Thanenthiran expressed that many are echoing the suggestion and hope it will be taken into consideration as the Late Tun Samy Vellu was a legend that should be forever remembered.

He goes on to say that Tun Samy is Malaysia’s “Father of Infrastructure” that has done many good deeds for the community he was serving and nation building. Some of his contributions during his term in office were The North-South Expressway, Damansara-Puchong Expressway, Federal Highway, Sg Besi Highway, and East Coast Highway Phase 1.

On another note, Tun Samy’s former press secretary Datuk E. Sivabalan meanwhile calls for the government to rename Jalan Raja Laut or Jalan Ipoh in the KL City centre to Jalan Tun Dr S. Samy Vellu in order to pay tribute for Tun Samy's role in Malaysia’s infrastructural development.
