SK Group and Gentari Partners To Diversify Into The Renewable Energy Sector.
Korea’s SK Group through its sub companies, SK Materials, SK Ecoplant and SK Signet has partnered up with Malaysia’s Gentari Sdn Bhd as part of its diversification exercise into Southeast Asia’s renewable energy sector, reported energynews.pro.
Through this strategic partnership, both companies will jointly cooperate in projects ranging from hydrogen, fuel cells and electric vehicle charging. Furthermore, this partnership will see Gentari receiving assistance with its energy transition effort as it moves towards cleaner solutions while SK Group would be able to achieve its Net Zero by 2050 through its focus on the development of renewable energy.
Chey Tae-won, president of the SK Group, said “The SK Group will in turn contribute to reducing carbon emissions by 200 million tons, which is equivalent to 1% of the global carbon reduction target set for 2030.”

As is with any cooperation, this partnership will mutually benefit both ends. Gentari is to impart its technological know-how while SK Group will support in terms of production and distribution infrastructures.
The goal as SK Group see’s it is to move out of the traditional investment module and assert itself as Southeast Asian market player in the green industry. Lee Yong-wook, president of SK Materials, chimed in by saying that this partnership resonates strongly with him as it will ultimately help address the climate crisis.
He further added, “We will work together to find the right balance of technologies and capabilities for our companies and cooperate closely to ensure the green technologies of tomorrow.”
