- TESLA to reduce Model 3 and Model Y prices in China
Tesla announces the pricing for Model 3 will cost approximately RM12 K ($2,700) and RM18 K (3,900) for Model Y. As reported, it is possible for price reduction as Tesla's profit per vehicle exceeded RM 37 K ($8,000) in Q2 2022 and expected to reach RM 60 K ($13,000) in Q3 2022.
This means customers would prefer to delay their purchasing until October as the vehicles will be much affordable. The Tesla automaker also aims to produce 22,000 Model 3 and Model Y vehicles per week or roughly 3,000 per day at the Gigafactory Shanghai.
The factory is expected to reach an annualised production run rate of 5,000 cars per day by the end of 2022. Anyhow, Tesla's local subsidiary anticipates breaking its all-time monthly vehicle delivery record in September, with 80,000 to 90,000 domestic deliveries.
This also led to shorter delivery times for the Tesla Model 3 and Model Y in China. Although most models estimated delivery times are between 6 and 10 weeks, except for the Model Y RWD and Model Y Long Range AWD.
