- 1.9 Million Vehicles On PLUS Highways Over This Long Weekend
To all planning for a trip over the long Maulidur Rasul weekend, be mindful as many of the routes will be highly congested with traffic.
Each day from this Friday to next Monday, PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) anticipates that around 1.9 million vehicles will travel on its highways.
The number is a surge from the daily 1.7 million vehicles per day recorded during normal work days, hence, journeys should be planned ahead as a longer travelling time is expected.
PLUS’ head of operations excellence, Mohd Yusuf Abdul Aziz, remarked, “Since moving to the endemic phase, PLUS has recorded daily traffic volumes like pre-pandemic days of an average of 1.7 million vehicles and the trend shows spikes of 1.9 million vehicles before each weekend and we anticipate this long Maulidur Rasul weekend to be the same. We expect with more travellers taking advantage of the three-day weekend, traffic will be higher and a longer journey can be expected. Therefore, we advise highway customers to be prepared and ensure their vehicles are fit for a longer drive this weekend.”
That said, travellers are advised to top up the Touch ‘n Go card, and the e-Wallet for RFID users, to avoid any inconveniences when passing through the toll plazas.
Also, by utilising the PLUS app, journeys can be planned ahead, aside from getting the latest traffic information about the highway situation.
