Porsche, ending the third quarter of 2022 with a minor upsurge in deliveries, where sales in Europe and the German market posted the most significant growths.

Collectively, the company delivered 221,512 vehicles worldwide in the first nine months of the year, a 2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Porsche AG’s executive board member for sales and marketing, Detlev von Platen, remarked, “We have managed to increase our delivery numbers in the first nine months of the year, in spite of various challenges. The popularity of Porsche as a modern luxury brand, as well as our products, is equally high on every continent. At the same time, we are still concerned about limitations to the supply of parts, which can impact waiting times for customers.”

Specifically, the European region saw the biggest gains in sales with 42,204 vehicles delivered between January and September, 11% more than last year.

Meanwhile, in its home market, Germany, Porsche delivered a total of 20,850 vehicles, which is an increase of 9%.

However, China, its largest single market delivered 68,766 vehicles, a decline of 1%, whereas North America recorded 56,357 deliveries, a slight decline of 4%.

The latter was due to logistical issues in the first quarter, but accelerated deliveries in the third quarter continued to reduce the gap to the very strong previous year.

Notably, demand for sports cars from Zuffenhausen remains strong, especially for the company’s SUV models.

Remaining in the top spot with 66,769 deliveries, the Porsche Cayenne, and the second most popular, the Macan with 59,604 deliveries.

Next, the iconic sports car, the 911, continues to rise in popularity with 30,611 deliveries, an increase of 9%, then the Panamera with 25,452 deliveries.

As for the Taycan, its worldwide deliveries hit 25,073, seeing a 12% decline due to supply chain-related holdups and declining parts availability.

Although both of these factors particularly affect the all-electric sports car, but the order book for the Taycan remains hefty.

Other than that, Porsche also delivered 14,003 examples of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models.

Platen concluded, “The fourth-quarter sprint is in full swing and we need to stay on our toes regarding external factors and uncertainties. At the same time, we are tackling the remaining three months of the year full of resolve and vigour.”
