- JPJ: Drivers Caught With No License, Road Tax, Vehicle Insurance
This shouldn’t be normalised and not to be taken lightly, as it’s a known fact that many of the Malaysian citizens do not have a driver’s license.
Additionally, the average driver is also found to not have road tax and some even have the audacity to use expired ones.
That was one of the statements made by JPJ’s Director General, Datuk Zailani Hashim during the Integrated Road Safety Advocacy operation at the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza, Kuala Lumpur.
"For that, a total of 297 summons notices were issued. No road tax or expired road tax is one of the main mistakes that road users often make for all types of vehicles. In most of the cases we receive, the reason the motorist commits the offense is the same, which is not realizing, or not having time to renew the expired road tax," he said.
In fact, the results of the JPJ inspection also found that some of the road users whose road tax had expired were found not to have vehicle insurance.
So be cautious as the end of the year is approaching, meaning more roadblocks will be in place, especially during the festive season of Christmas Day and school holidays.
All in all, for drivers who don't have a license or have an expired road tax, take this as a gentle reminder to immediately renew all necessary documents before it’s too late.
