Seized 1,080 HP Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat turned into a police car!

From the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X used by PDRM to the ridiculous Lamborghini Aventador used by the Dubai Police, performance cars have become the mainstay for law enforcement worldwide as patrol vehicles. However, to actually acquire one from their very own impound lot and convert it into legally-run patrol vehicle, is a story that’s almost unheard of.
The latest of such sees police in the US state of Texas revealing their new steed in the form of a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye that it previously seized. According to sources online, said muscle car was confiscated by Texas state police back in April 2021 from a street racer who evaded arrest.

Said previous owner was eventually caught after attempting to flee law enforcement officers in a high-speed chase that clocked speeds over 250 KM/H. The car was subsequently seized following the arrest, after which, it was awarded to the Texas state police by a judge.
Thanks to several undisclosed upgrades, the Challenger Hellcat now serving the state’s police doesn’t just make do with the stock 707 HP output as claimed by Dodge. Instead, it now boasts a whopping 1,080 HP, perhaps from a larger supercharger unit, plus a few other performance bits.

Befitting its new role to protect and serve the community, the Hellcat has been draped in a brand new standard police cruiser black and white livery wrap. It also gets a set of customary flashing lights and siren, the former includes specially designed units integrated into the front and rear windscreens too.
Lastly, a twist of irony for this muscle car’s story comes from the image caption posted via Facebook by Texas state police service itself, which cheekily reads: “it went from evading law enforcement in Harris Co. to now catching criminals wherever it roams in Texas.”
