As we head towards the end of the year, the monsoon season is due to arrive sooner or later. Hence, Zurich Malaysia advises its customers and motorists alike to take additional special perils coverage, applicable for all motor vehicles.

Warnings from Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on heavy rains should be heeded by motorists, as preparations for heaving through said weather conditions must not be taken lightly.

With monsoon season due in November and La Nina phenomenon expected to be ongoing until 2023, vehicle owners can consider taking special perils coverage, which can be added at any time. Said perils offer coverage against loss or damage due to natural disasters, such as floods and thunderstorms.

The guide for the cost of adding special perils coverage for Zurich Malaysia’s Z-Driver and Z-Driver Takaful plans for private vehicle are stated on the table below:

Aside from floods and thunderstorms, other natural disasters like landslides and falling trees also included potential perils that Malaysian motorists weren't well-prepared for.

With reports showing only a third of active motorists (34%) have coverage for storms including falling trees, drivers might consider adding said special perils coverage for worst case scenarios.

Customers can inquire their respective insurance providers for the subscription or any additional information on the special perils coverage, for an immediate protection against natural disasters.
