De Tomaso P900 Debuts – A 900 HP V12 Hypercar with $3M Price Tag!

Be it from budding start-ups backed by loaded angel investors or long-timed carmakers, hypercars are getting more and more common nowadays. As electrification beckons, more and more hypercars are now electrified in order to pass today’s ever-gripping regulations. But to get a fully-ICE hypercar in this day and age, is truly a ‘blessing’.

The latest of which being the all-new De Tomaso P900, recently unveiled to the world. This ultra-performance, track-only hypercar not only doesn’t get electrified, but also boasts no forced induction technology in its engine – truly a gem amongst gems.

Powering this engineering marvel is a bespoke 6.2-litre V12 nat-asp mill, developed in-house by De Tomaso themselves. The Italian marque claims this V12 is the lightest they’ve ever produced (220 KG), capable of delivering 900 HP and revs up to 12,300 RPM – 200 RPM more than Gordon Murray T50’s Cosworth V12.
Thanks to its super light V12 engine and carbon body panels, the P900 weighs only 900 KG (dry weight), thus giving it a 1:1 power-to-weight ratio a la Koenigsegg One:1.

De Tomaso’s latest V12 mill is tailor-made to run on carbon neutral synthetic fuels. Unfortunately, the V12-powered P900 won’t be available until 2024, but impatient customers can opt for the smaller Judd V10-powered P900, available for order now. The V10 mill is said to be related to Benetton B197 F1 car’s powertrain, so to say it’s a cheap alternative is technically (and morally) incorrect.

Styling wise, the P900 boasts similar design language as the P72, with the addition of few complex aero bits and parts. The previously-teased golden-hued side mirrors are now confirmed, as well as the carbon weave design spread throughout its body.

At the rear, its massive active rear wing is equipped with DRS-like function, enabling drivers to open or close them as they wish. Beneath said wing is a pair of ridiculously-sized exhaust tailpipes, measured at about the same diameter as its rounded tail lights.

In-charge of designing the P900 is the same team that conjured the crazy look on the Apollo Intensa Emozione (IE) hypercar. But don’t let its crazy curves and excessive vents fool you, as said team designed the P900 in an F1 wind tunnel. So, every nook and crannies present on the P900 are all ‘scientifically’ placed to give maximum downforce in this superlight hypercar.
De Tomaso has yet to disclose any real-time performance numbers. But judging from its insane power-to-weight ratio and track-focused design, the P900 should go neck-to-neck with other track specials such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro.
The De Tomaso P900 is priced at around US$3 million (RM13.5 million), so you really got to know what you’re doing to actually buy and drive one.
