- GE15: PLUS Travel Time Advisory For Those Travelling To Cast Their Votes
PLUS Malaysia Berhad (PLUS) is back again with yet another Travel Time Advisory (TTA) to help its users plan the best times to head to their destination come GE15. PLUS is expecting roughly 1.8-million to 1.9-million daily vehicles between 17th to 21st November as Malaysians travel to their respective polling destinations.
Furthermore, as caretaker Prime Minister Ismail Sabri announced a national public holiday and toll free travel for two (2) days come 18th and 19th November. This is also expected to fuel a higher number of citizens taking this opportunity to make their voices heard and also some who capitalise on this making it into a long weekend break.
PLUS Chief Operating Officer, Datuk Zakaria Ahmad Zabidi said, “PLUS is issuing the TTA in conjunction with the 15th GE on the North-South Expressway for the period of 16th November to 21st November 2022. Based on the TTA, those travelling out of the Klang Valley to Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak (North) and Johor from 16th November and 18th November are encouraged to enter the highway before 10am. Highway users heading towards other states are advised to enter the highway between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm”.
Inbound motorists from Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak (North), Johor, and other states are advised to enter the highway before 10 a.m. on the 20th and 21st of November.
“We also advise those planning to return to their hometowns to vote to plan their journey and be prepared to face a longer travel duration due to the increase in traffic. Nevertheless, PLUS is also beefing up its highway operations to help the public enjoy a comfortable journey including the facilities at the toll plazas and rest areas,” he added.
During this period (17-21 November), PLUS will temporarily suspend all highway maintenance, upgrading and construction works which would result in lane closures except for emergency accident clearance and critical or emergency repair work.
Datuk Zakaria further added, “A total of 200 PLUSRonda teams will patrol the highways 24-hours a day as well as 1,500 personnel will be stationed at the toll plazas. Thirty Traffic Monitoring Center personnel will be on hand to coordinate assistance for highway users during emergencies and monitor traffic movement”.
Highway users are reminded to obey the speed limit, traffic instructions and be more alert when driving due to the rainy weather.
