Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato Debuts – A V10-powered Off-Road Supercar!

This is it. The final nail in the coffin. The impending extinction of pure combustion supercars has officially kicked-off, as sportscar manufacturers now scramble to give a proper send-off to their beloved fossil fuel powertrains.

Ahead of the historical yet tragic ‘event’, Lamborghini has officially pulled the drapes off the all-new Huracan Sterrato – the Italian marque’s final pure combustion supercar. After numerous spy shots and multiple teasers dropped, the automotive world has finally got its chance to have a full-on look on this rally-styled supercar.

Funnily, Lambo’s final pure-ICE automobile is also their first-ever off-road-ready supercar – talk about killing two birds with one stone.

Similar to its German cousin the Porsche 911 Dakar, the Huracan Sterrato is a proper off-roader, fully-equipped with gravel-ready gears and equipment. The Sterrato’s off-road ‘treatment’ begins with a 1.7-inch (43 MM) increase in ride height – slightly lower than the 911 Dakar, but significant enough to turn this supercar into a capable off-roader.

In addition to being lifted, the Huracan Sterrato is also wider than its ‘normal’ counterpart, with its overall width being stretched out by 1.3 inches (33 MM), leaving ample room to house proper off-road tyres.

On the design front, the Huracan Sterrato boasts an aggressive stance, thanks to its lifted height, as well as plethora of off-road gears. Its front hood now houses a pair of LED fog lights for better vision, should you opt to take this supercar off-roading under the stars.

The flared-out fenders come draped in matte black, with its connecting bolts being exposed for the rugged rally look. The addition of roof rails and corrugated front and rear lips, as well as side skirts really made us want to call this rather peppy supercar an SUV instead, but we won’t stoop that low, rest assured.

Still think the Sterrato lacks off-roading pedigree? This rally-styled Lambo also comes with aluminium underbody armouring, reinforced sills as well as a repositioned air intake at the back of its roof a la rally car snorkel intake – in case one decides to take it for a ‘swim’.

Primed in all four corners of the Sterrato are a set of 19-inch wheels, wrapped in Bridgestone Dueler AT002 all-terrain tyres that can still run even if it’s flat. 381 MM brakes with six-piston callipers are mounted behind its front wheels, while the back is primed with 355 MM discs and four-piston callipers combo – providing ample stopping power in this rally-ready supercar.

Ample stopping power is somewhat of a necessity for the Huracan Sterrato, as it’s primed with a 5.2-litre V10 mill – the last pure combustion Lamborghini V10 ever. Said ICE delivers 602 HP and 560 NM, which powers all four wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) and a trick all-wheel-drive (AWD). All in, the Huracan Sterrato, though rolling on heavy off-road wheels and tyres, can still complete the 0-100 KM/H sprint in just 3.4 seconds – a mere 0.1 faster than the 911 Dakar.

Flat out, the Huracan Sterrato’s V-max is governed at 260 KM/H. Nothing to write home about, if compared to its lower-sitting siblings. But nonetheless, an impressive feat for an off-roader.

Inside the Sterrato’s cockpit, it features some rally-specific functions such as the all-new ‘Rally’ driving mode, aside from the standard ‘Strada’ and ‘Sport’ modes. Other off-road-focused instruments included are steering angle indicator, a dedicated inclinometer, pitch and roll indicator and many more.

As the Bologna-based marque’s pure combustion swansong, Lamborghini will produce only 1,499 units of the Huracan Sterrato, each tagged at €263,000 (RM1,211,479). In comparison, the Porsche 911 Dakar is priced at US$223,450 (approx. RM 1,016,698), but more will be built, albeit limited to just 2,500 units.

So, what do you think of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato? Would you prefer this off-road Italian raging bull over the Germanic, rally-inspired Porkah? Hit the comments below with your thoughts and opinions…
