According to Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, a lightning strike on a Platform Intrusion Emergency Stop (PIES) component at the Kerinchi LRT station caused a delay in train frequencies along the Kelana Jaya LRT line earlier on Tuesday (Nov 29).

The report states that, the lightning hit activated the PIES, preventing trains from both directions from passing along that section of track.

"Our technical personnel is currently on-site performing repairs." "Due to the malfunction, trains operating through that route had to be driven manually, resulting in delays and passenger congestion at multiple stops," the company said in a statement on Tuesday (Nov 29).

It also stated that free shuttle bus services from the Bangsar LRT station to the Pasar Seni LRT station, as well as from the KLCC LRT station to the Pasar Seni LRT station, were arranged.

"Our operations team and auxiliary police personnel have also been deployed at platforms to handle crowds," the statement stated.

RapidKL had already warned travellers to expect delays along the Kelana Jaya LRT line owing to a technical issue.

It stated that the frequency of rail services between Kerinchi and Ampang Park would be around 15 minutes after a train had to be taken out of service.
