MYAirline Awkward First Flight, Online Booking Still Glitchy

MYAirline, Malaysia’s latest low-cost carrier had quite a bumpy take off earlier today (26 Nov 2022) during its 12 midnight online ticket booking launch. MyAirline is starting its flight with three routes, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi all via KLIA2. The supposed low fare launch promo was for bookings made from 26th Nov to 30th Nov for flights from 1st Dec to 25th Dec 2022.

During its midnight launch, potential passengers were greeted with no flights available for all these mentioned routes and an “awkward” web-server error message.

Frustrated users took to MYAirline social media sites to express their frustration as it seems MYAirline online chat system was also non-functional.

At 1.58am, MYAirline CEO, Rayner Teo issued an apology via social media over the hiccups the MYAirline system is experiencing. According to him, MYAirline will temporarily suspend its booking engine to resolve the unexpected error it was experiencing. He further added that MYAirline would honour the ‘MYAirline Vouchers’ once its system is restored.

However, we have to give it to MYAirline as they managed to “rectify” the issues and issued an update on Facebook that the booking engine is back online. They further added that as a gesture of good faith, MyAirline would offer all customers a RM10 voucher for their next booking. This voucher would be sent via email from 1st Dec 2022 onwards.

At the time of publication, we ourselves tried signing-up as users to the MYAirline website however we are yet to receive our verification email after 2-hours (yes we did check our spam folder). Then asked by a user, MYAirline noted that there is an unexpected high volume of traffic, and verification will be sent out soon.

As for now it seems that the MYAirline booking engine is a hit or miss as some managed to make their desired booking while others are still facing hiccups all the way. Some users are experiencing higher than advertised ticket prices too.

Given it's just their first day of operations, we do sincerely hope that they improve upon their system and service to give other low-cost carriers a good run in this space which will benefit the users eventually.
