RM145 Million Allocated To JKR For 2023 Selangor Road Works Under 2023 State Budget

In the recent 2023 Selangor Budget announcement on 25 November 2022 by the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, he shared that the state government has given the green light to improve the road network in the state at a tune of RM145 million allocated to the Public Works Department (JKR) for the implementation of road projects in 2023.


According to him further, the state of Selangor to be considered a Transport Hub & National Infrastructure Driver based on its geographical position smack in the middle of the Peninsular making it a natural catalyst for sea, air and land transport activities in Peninsular Malaysia.



With the total length capacity of State Roads under JKR in the State of Selangor which is 4,356,706 km long (Source: MARRIS Online, 25/8/2022) is an infrastructure network that connects 9 Districts in the State of Selangor to Federal Roads and is an important component in generating Economy, Social Mobility and the State growth.


A total of RM11.8 million is allocated for the construction of Bridges and Overpasses. Projects that are expected to start construction in 2023 are a Bridge in Kg. Sungai Buah, Sepang District and over Sungai Serigala, Route B44 Jalan Hulu Bernam - Sungai Besar, Hulu Selangor as well as to appoint a consultant for the design works for the project to Upgrade Bagan Sungai Besar Bridge on Jalan Sungai Limau Dua - Jalan Panchang Bedena (B53), Sabak Bernam District.


The State Development Expenditure Performance of the Public Works Department until 31 July 2022 is RM 6,216,972.66 equivalent to 43.56% of the RM 138,130,000.00 total allocation that has been approved in 2022.

 

Five (5) physical projects were successfully completed and handed over in 2021, namely:

 

i. Upgrading Jalan Semenanjan Bernam 3

ii. Building the Kota Warisan Connection Road / B20 (Missing Link)

iii. Upgrading Jalan Melati, Kuang, Mukim Rawang, Gombak District, Selangor

iv. Replacing the Old Bridge in Kg. Rantau Panjang, Bestari Jaya

v. Upgrading Jalan Kg. Mine Phase 1 & Phase 2, Klang District


and as many as one (1) physical project has been completed entering the third quarter (Q3) of 2022 which was upgrading the Main Crossing of Sungai Satu, Pulau Ketam Under Small Project in Kampung Baru/Bagan/Organized Selangor State.

 

The LED Solar Street Lighting Program throughout Selangor continues for Phase 2 with an estimated allocation of RM3 million to make the Selangor State Government's initiative to introduce the use of LED solar street lights in all state assemblies in Selangor a success. This program is in line with the efforts of the Selangor State Government to create a green environment and expand sustainable development in the State of Selangor.



 

A total of RM40.98 million is allocated in 2023 to cover the construction of new roads currently under construction including:

 

i. Building a road connecting Kampung Sri Indah A to Jalan Hospital Sungai Buloh (FT15) where the project will be an alternative road for residents from Kg Sri Indah A to Hospital Sg Buloh as well as to the North - South Highway and can save time for road users. (2023 Allocation – RM10.98 million)


ii. Building a road connecting Sg. Kelambu - Genting Sanyen (Allocation 2023 – RM13.5 million, tender term third quarter 2023)


iii. Building a Road from Kg Ulu Chuchuh to KLIA (2023 Allocation – RM16 million)


These new roads will pass through new areas and be a catalyst for economic growth in the surrounding areas involving several districts such as Gombak, Kuala Langat and Sepang.



 

In addition, the Selangor State government allocated RM65.3 million to ensure that the existing roads can accommodate the current increase in traffic flow and to overcome the problem of congestion on the State roads including the proposed new upgrade project namely:

 

i. Proposed road upgrades at the junction of Jalan Rahidin near Masjid Al-Huda, Kg Paya Jaras, Sg Buloh, Selangor (Allocation 2023 – RM4.7 million (Detailed Design Works and Land Reclamation)


ii. Road upgrading proposal at Jalan Bukit Rimau, Klang District. (2023 Allocation – RM12.5 million)


iii. Upgrading Route B17 (Jalan Reko). (Appropriation 2023 – RM1.7 million (Detailed Design Works and Land Acquisition)


iv. Proposal to upgrade Kg Bukit Dugang Intersection, in Sepang District, Selangor (2023 Allocation – RM1.7 million (Detailed Design Works and Land Acquisition)


v. Proposal to Upgrade the Road to SMK Tiram Jaya, Tanjung Karang, Kuala Selangor (Allocation 2023 – RM3.2 million (Land Acquisition. Tender term Q2 2023))


vi. Proposed upgrading of Jalan B44, Jalan Sg Panjang from the intersection of Jalan Kuala Selangor – Telok Intan to Parit Empat Timur, Sabak Bernam District (Allocation 2023 – RM2.3 million (Land Reclamation and Detailed Design. Tender Term Q3 2023))



The State Government has also approved an allocation of RM1.5 million to implement state road gazetting works in the State of Selangor involving nine (9) Districts in the State of Selangor in stages.

 

The State Government also continues the state road gazetting program in stages with an estimated allocation of RM2 million in 2023 in nine (9) districts throughout Selangor to ensure that any issues and claims on state roads are valid and based on the law in force at the time.


The Selangor State Government has always ensured that the existing infrastructure is safer and thus an allocation of RM6.3 million has been allocated for Building Works and Upgrading Building Projects including Renovating the Selangor Palace (2023 Allocation - RM3 million) and Various Building Projects (2023 Allocation) – RM1.5 million).
