Transport Minister YB Loke Siew Fook yesterday officiated the ‘Announcement Ceremony of AirAsia's Special Additional Flights and Fixed Low Fares’ in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year celebration. The ceremony was held at the Atrium in RedQ, Sepang.

AirAsia will offer one-way fares as low as RM199 from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri, as well as Johor Bahru to Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Miri. One-way flights from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, as well as Johor Bahru to Kota Kinabalu, start at RM249. All of these pricing are for the Chinese New Year event and will be available for booking on December 28, 2022.

Anthony Loke on behalf of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) expressed its highest appreciation to AirAsia for its commitment in supporting the government's call for reduction in flight fares while also increasing the number of flight frequencies during the festive season.

It is worth noting that Batik Air was the first to respond to MOT's appeal for price reductions and flight expansion. Anthony also added that MOT would further encourage other airlines to jointly support these initiatives from the government.
