Don’t Be A Road Hazard This Rainy Season, Check Your 3rd Brake Light!

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) took to its social media today to remind road users to keep a check on their vehicle's third brake light. This is especially so with the recent heavy downpours resulting in reduced visibility or during night drives.

This is especially so with weekend travels becoming the new standard since the nation entered the endemic phase as reported by PLUS. The daily average traffic volume is up to roughly 1.8 million vehicles as compared to about 1.6 million vehicles in 2019.

According to PDRM, vehicle owners with non-functioning 3rd brake light cab be subject to action under Section 119(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 gazetted for general offences and penalties. If convicted, the driver can be fined up to RM2,000 or imprisoned for not more than six months.
