BMW Group Malaysia and Pentas Flora have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance their circularity efforts in dealing with the issue of automotive waste.
According to Hans de Visser, CEO and MD of BMW Group Malaysia, working towards the goal of climate neutrality by 2050 will drive the Company Group's global aspirations at the local level, while inspiring more industry leaders in Malaysia.
Matthias Schlesiger, CEO of BMW Group Financial Services Malaysia, stated that his company has begun an internal initiative with our network of local dealer representatives to provide waste oil and lubricants collected from their respective service centres since 2021.
Oon Kin Seng, Executive Director of the Pentas Flora Group, is delighted to have the opportunity to strengthen efforts to promote sustainability and responsibility with BMW Group Malaysia.
So far, over 30,000 litres of waste lubricating oil have been collected from the four BMW distribution centres in the Klang Valley area and sent to the Pentas Flora refinery in Banting for processing into eco-refined base oil (EBO).

The ESG themed round table session organised by BMW Group Malaysia and Pentas Flora featured prominent public sector figures as well as sustainability experts and innovators.
They have shared knowledge about low-carbon practices and voluntary carbon markets, ESG non-compliance risks, governance to ensure sustainable growth, and a shift in attitude among Malaysian corporate entities to engage in self-regulation practices as part of their respective sustainability efforts.
