- Kelana Jaya LRT Line Suffers Yet Another Malfunction
Issues plaguing the Kelana Jaya LRT Line seems to be never ending. Yesterday evening RapidKL twitter was buzzing with unhappy passengers expressing their delays, abrupt trains stops, shorter the usual window time to alight the train and more.
Following which RapidKL issued a statement that the delays were caused by a switch malfunctions issue which causes all trains on the line to move slower and stop longer at the platform.
The incident was first identified at 4.24pm prompting the operators to manually drive the train between KL Sentral Station and Pasar Seni. The issue was rectified and repair works were done by the technical team at 5.20pm.
However, a second disruption cropped up between Damai Station and Dato' Keramat at 5.26pm. The technical team was deployed to address the issue.
RapidKL in an attempt to lessen congestion at the LRT stations offered free intermediate buses to passengers between KLCC Station, Ampang Park, Damai, Dato' Keramat, Jelatek and Setiawangsa. As usual, RapidKL advises the LRT users to plan their journeys and follow Rapid KL's social media for the latest updates.
At 11.21 RapidKL took to its social media to announce that the LRT train switch issue has been rectified at 6.42pm which enables train switching between lanes and services are back to normal.
The irony of this however was that the YB Anthony Loke, the Minister Of Transport was coincidentally going “undercover” during the whole incident with a local Youtuber just to face delays together with the rest of the passengers. He however stated on his social media that the matter is being addressed by the technical team and both the Ministry Of Transport and Prasarana is steadfast in overcoming all these technical issues to improve and stabilise the public transportation system.
