Perodua 2023 Outlook – 330K Units Production, 314K Deliveries Projected

Following its unprecedented production and delivery record in 2022, Perodua now aims to maximise its production capabilities. Said effort is projected to raise production up to 330,000 and deliveries of over 314,000 in 2023 alone.

Speaking during Perodua’s 2023 Outlook Media Conference event held earlier today, Perodua president and CEO Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Ahmad said that this projection is based on the outstanding orders carried forward from last year, as well as continued high-demand for its vehicles like the Bezza and Alza.

“This year (2023) provides a golden opportunity for us as consumers still have confidence in the automotive market. In fact, more than half of our targeted volume is from bookings we collected last year but have yet to deliver.

“As our normal installed annual production capacity for our Perodua Manufacturing and Perodua Global Manufacturing plants are at 320,000 units on a two-shift cycle, we can still increase our volume by improving productivity and by instituting overtime,” Dato’ Sri Zainal said.

The 330,000 production and 314,000 sales targets are 14.2% and 11.3% higher than the marque’s unprecedented production and delivery volumes recorded in 2022. For the record, Perodua has managed to produce 289,054 units and deliver 282,019 units last year – the highest annual volume ever recorded by the firm.

In total, Perodua now has produced a total of 4.68 million vehicles since it began production in 1994.

The record-breaking 2022 effort also saw Perodua increasing its Total Industry Volume (TIV) by 41.6% compared to the previous year, while capping its after-sales service intake at 2.639 million units – 31.6% higher than 2021. All of these increments have led to the increase of Perodua’s market share to 39.1% in 2022 – a 1.7% hike over the previous year.

To complement this projected increase, Perodua will also work closely with its network of dealers nationwide to revamp the looks of its showrooms and service centres, as part of the firm’s image rebranding. Aside from that, Perodua has also targeted to increase its export volume up to 8,400 vehicles for the international markets.
