Rugged Mitsubishi Delica Mini Concepts Headed for TAS 2023
The Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) 2023 is right around the corner, happening throughout this upcoming weekend from Jan 13 to 15, 2023. While there’s going to be many track and street-tuned models showcased in said auto show, the presence of few off-roading, rugged concept models are definitely a much-welcomed addition, especially for rally fans and off-roading junkies.
Following Subaru in rallying-up its showcase is Mitsubishi, who has unveiled its line-up for TAS 2023. Staying true to its rally and off-roading heritage, the marque’s concept line-up features several rugged-up Kei cars, minivans, SUV crossovers and even pickups.
Headlining its showcase line-up this year is two cute-yet-rugged Kei ‘crossover’ concepts, based on the Mitsubishi Delica Mini – the latest addition to the brand’s Kei fleets. While its production model already boasts a rugged facade, the two concepts really take it to the next level, thanks to the addition of genuine off-roading gears and equipment.
One of the concepts, dubbed as the Delica Mini Snow Survivor Concept, is sporting few legit adventure gears, such as the black-finished bull bar and large roof rack, while riding on a set of black beadlock-style off-road wheels wrapped in Toyo Tires Open Country all-terrain tyres. The car’s body is finished in special Snow Survivor white-hued livery, showcasing mountains and hills contour lines, as in topographical maps.
Meanwhile, the other Delica Mini concept is a collaboration between Mitsubishi and renowned camping gear brand, Coleman. The Mitsubishi Delica Mini x Coleman concept comes with few adventure gears such as the roof rack and mud flaps, while riding on a set of sportier ten-spoke wheels wrapped in the same Toyo all-terrain tyres mentioned above.
Both Delica Mini concepts are also bestowed with a bed kit and extra storage compartments inside their cabins, essentially making them ready for any outdoor adventures.
Aside from the Delica Mini concepts, the Mitsubishi’s TAS 2023 showcase will also be featuring two more Kei concept models, namely the Mitsubishi eK EV Smooth x Tough and Minicab Mieve B-Leisure Style II. The former is an SUV-fied version of the eK EV that rides on all-terrain tyres, while boasting off-roading gears like a roof rack with integrated LED spotlights, a rear ladder and front bull bar.
Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Minicab MiEV B-Leisure Style II concept is a follow-up to last year’s concept based on the MiEV Kei EV. This Kei minivan comes with novel adventure gears like a mountain stream fishing set, as well as a scooter. The interior, on the other hand, has been converted into a mobile workspace primed with a proper desk and chair setup, as well as a mini projector and a bed kit.
Other than the four Kei concepts, Mitsubishi will also showcase a slew of SUV crossover concepts based on both the Eclipse Cross and Outlander PHEV, as well as the Ralliart-badged Triton rally pickups that recently won the Asia Cross Country Rally 2022.
