- Tom’s Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 Showcase Lineup Unveiled
The Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 (TAS 2023) is poised to be the first motor show to take place in 2023. Happening at Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, this renowned aftermarket-focused auto show will see a slew of cars being put on display, ranging from specially-tuned performance cars, sports car concepts, and even flagship saloons.
In conjunction with this auspicious motor show, famed Toyota and Lexus’s tuner brand, Tom’s, has officially unveiled its showcase lineup. This rather comprehensive lineup consists of custom-tuned sportscars such as the Supra Touring to luxury flagship sedans like the Toyota Century.
One of the highlights from Tom’s lineup is the special edition Toyota Century. Cordially known for hauling Japanese government officials, this luxury flagship saloon is dressed with subtle exterior makeover in a form of new bodykit, exposed tailpipes and tinted taillights . Apart from riding on a set of black BBS wheels, the blacked-out Tom’s Century also comes with a mild interior upgrade.
Joining the Century in Tom’s TAS 2023 lineup is two iterations of Tom’s Racing Toyota Supra. Originally unveiled about a year ago, the widebody Supra comes with a plethora of performance upgrades aimed to make it even faster. While its BMW-built B58 mill is being tuned-up, said performance upgrade also sees its normal turbo kit being replaced with a high-flow type kit, while the rear part boasts sporty quad tailpipes specially-developed by Tom’s, dubbed as the Tom’s Barrell.
Aside from the sporty Supra, a wing-less version of the same car, known as the Tom’s Supra Touring, will also be displayed. In place of the missing rear wing to provide balance and downforce to the Supra is a reinforced chassis build.
Next to feature in Tom’s TAS 2023 showcase is the tuned-up Toyota GR86. Aside from the luscious widebody kit it dons, this special GR86 comes with a turbocharged mill. However, Tom’s has yet to disclose the exact detail and power figures of the force-induced mill, let alone the fact that will it boast the same Subaru boxer engine as its bone-stock cousins.
Aside from several tuned-up Toyotas, Tom’s will also showcase a couple of specially tuned Lexus models, namely the Lexus LC500 Convertible and the GS F. The former Lexus comes with your typical Tom’s performance makeover, starting with the widebody kit, a set of 21-inch aluminium wheels, chassis braces, racing dampers and many more.
On the other hand, the Tom’s GS F is actually produced by Formula 1 alum Kazuki Nakajima. The former Williams-Toyota pilot draped his GS F in ultramarine blue hue, while sporting them with some carbon fibre trims, blacked-out rims and many more upgrades.
All these special Tom’s models will be showcased in the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon 2023, poised to happen from Jan 13 to 15, 2023 at Makuhari Messe, Chiba City, Japan.
