Authorities Investigating Viral DASH Highway ‘Drifters’

A recent viral video showing a group of car enthusiasts in several high performance vehicles performing stunts - donuts and drifts - on the DASH Highway nearby the Denai Alam Toll Plaza has caught the attention of authorities, prompting an investigation.

According to DASH Highway operators Prolintas (Project Lintas Damansara-Shah Alam Sdn Bhd), it intends to fully cooperate with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and its Selangor Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department (JSPT) regarding the matter.

Prolintas also confirmed that no valid permits were issued to anyone to host any mass gatherings at the RSA Denai Alam rest stop - which is where the group is believed to have begun gathering initially late on Saturday night.

Besides the video which, presumably, will be used as key evidence, Prolintas also found damage on the stretch of road where the incident occurred in the form of tyre marks left behind in the aftermath of the group’s illicit act based on preliminary observations.

While it may look like a bunch of boys on a fun night out, we’ll remind you that both their gathering and ensuing reckless driving acts are illegal and punishable by law. If caught, motorists involved in this viral incident could face stiff fines on top of mandatory jail terms.
