Maserati Levante GT Hybrid Lands – New MHEV Variant Priced From RM738K

Official Malaysian Maserati importers Naza Italia sees its electrified line-up grow today after introducing the new Maserati Levante GT Hybrid. This is the famed trident-badged marque’s second mild-hybrid (MHEV) offering to make landfall locally following the Ghibli Hybrid sports saloon that arrived back in November 2021.

The main highlight of this model is of course its adoption of Maserati’s latest 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) powertrain. It works with a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo that, according to Maserati, “combines the smoothness of a six-cylinder engine with the low rev count of a diesel engine.”

Along with the combustion engine, the 48-volt MHEV setup employs a Belt Starter Generator (BSG), and an eBooster electric supercharger, the latter filling the torque gap before the 4-cyl mill’s turbocharger spools up. Essentially, the electrification negates turbo lag to an otherwise highly-tuned 4-cyl turbocharged mill.

Sure, this is two – or perhaps four – cylinders less than what you’d typically expect of any Maserati, but this partially-electrified system’s total output of 330 HP and 450 NM sees it stack up almost equally against the now discontinued 3.0-litre V6 bi-turbo mill powering the Levante prior that offered 350 HP.

Managing said outputs is a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic box, and Maserati’s proprietary Q4 all-wheel drive (AWD) system with rear LSD. Altogether, it allows this partially-electrified version of the Levante SUV to despatch 0-100 KM/H in just 6 seconds before maxing out at 245 KM/H – similar to its non-MHEV twin.

Partial electrification also sees the Levante GT Hybrid deliver up to 20% greater fuel efficiency, sipping between 9.7 and 10.7 litres/100 KM on the combined WLTP driving cycle.

Mechanical bits aside, this is the familiar Levante SUV that many are familiar with. Updated Maserati emblems on both its grille and C-pillars, new Maserati lettering running across its tailgate, as well as GT badges above the air intakes are the key exterior tweaks in this model.

On board, things are familiar here once again, mirroring its pure combustion twins here. Key highlights include an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment unit primed with navigation function, luxurious leather comfort seats, as well as Piano Black-finished trims.

Other key highlights in the kit list include full LED adaptive matrix headlights, stylish 20-inch alloy wheels, as well as adjustable air suspension with Skyhook dampers all around. Lastly, the model is also primed with a bevy of semi-autonomous driving tech (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control with stop and go function, autonomous emergency braking, surround view camera, highway assist, and much more.

Orders for the new Maserati Levante GT Hybrid can now be placed through Naza Italia where it commands a base starting price of RM738,000 excluding customisation options and on-road costs. Said figure also includes Naza Italia’s 3-year, unlimited mileage warranty coverage.
