- New Porsche Flagship EV SUV To Launch In 2027
Heads up, folks! Famed Stuttgart-based sportcar marque Porsche reveals a range-topping seven-seat electric SUV which reportedly looks like a sedan and a crossover rather than just a large family hauler.
Evidently, the luxury electric SUV is better known as "K1" and is going to be sit on the VW Group's PPE architecture similar to the one that's going to underpin several models like the Audi A6 e-tron, Q6 e-tron, and electric Porsche Cayenne.
The seven-seat K1 shall proceed to have the brand’s latest battery, electric motor, and charging technology which will increase its price up to RM775K ($180,000) per say. With that in context, it would stage the most expensive Porsche models on sale only likely to be top-of-the-line models or Turbo S just to match the Taycan.
Under the hood, the K1 is said to have a powerful battery pack with a capacity of more than 100 kWh and a 920V electric system that allows for quicker charging. According to rumours, the most economical version of Porsche's largest vehicle to date has a maximum range of 700 kilometres on the WLTP cycle. As noted, an all-wheel steering with a five-degree turn capability for the rear wheels is planned, as well as oil cooling for the electric motors.
Porsche plans to equip the K1 with real off-road prowess by adding a special driving mode that will significantly stiffen the air suspension. Other highlights of the SUV could include adjustable air suspension, four-wheel steering, and an electronic differential providing torque vectoring.
More than that, K1 will join the Taycan, Macan, Boxster/Cayman, and a fully electric Cayenne as the brand's fifth electric vehicle (EV). We can infer from logic that the latter will be more compact and reasonably priced than the three-row model, which Oliver Blume has called "a very sporting interpretation of an SUV."
The upcoming K1, on which Porsche has been working for the past three years, could prove to be particularly well-liked in markets like China and North America and expected to hit the market in 2027.
