Rolls-Royce Celebrates 112 Years Of The Spirit Of Ecstasy With Its New Design
On Monday, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars celebrated the 112th anniversary of its Spirit of Ecstasy mascot.
On February 6, 1911, Rolls-Royce registered it as intellectual property. She has been universally recognised since then.
With the passage of time, she has evolved. Throughout her long life, she has adopted various stances, standing slightly taller or shorter at times, and allowing the wind to sculpt her flowing garments in subtly altered forms. She commemorates her jubilee in her most streamlined and athletic form, having been specially recreated in 2022 for the marque's all-electric Spectre, the most aerodynamic Rolls-Royce ever.
She resembles her creator, the illustrator and sculptor Charles Sykesoriginal ,'s drawings from 1911 more than anything she's ever done.
The Spirit of Ecstasy's origins are the stuff of legend and myth, as well as recorded fact, with some details still shrouded in mystery and intrigue. Her backstory involves many of Rolls-founding Royce's figures, including the company's first managing director, Claude Johnson.
She represents ambition, achievement, excellence, and success to Rolls-Royce customers and fans worldwide.
