Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) and Cardiac Vascular Sentral Kuala Lumpur (CVSKL) have officially launched their partnership. This collaboration seeks to offer safe and comfortable transportation for CVSKL patients through free ETS rides all across Peninsular Malaysia.
The attendees during recent ceremony were Chairman of CVSKL, Tan Sri Dato' Dr. Yahya Awang, Consultant Cardiologist, Dr. Surendran Thuraisingham, Yang Berbahagia, Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin, Group CEO of KTMB Berhad and representatives from both parties.
Tan Sri Dato' Dr Yahya Awang remarked, "CVSKL is recognized as a Centre of Excellence for all cardiac and vascular matters’’.
‘’The patients that we treat not only come from the Klang Valley but greater cities such as Butterworth, Padang Besar and Ipoh. We hope that this initiative will provide better convenience to our patients, and we'd also like to thank KTMB for supporting this wholeheartedly" he added.
CVSKL is located at KL Sentral, one of the nation's most strategic transportaion hub. Thus, most of the train passengers uses KL Sentral station to commute as the rail network serves as transit-oriented development that mainly houses Malaysia's major railway station in the city.
According to KTM's official Facebook page, the auto-healthcare alliance also helps to encourage domestic healthcare tourism by improving the healthcare industry's capability and skills.
On top of that, it aspires to provide accessible transportation for patients especially diagnosed with critical conditions like cardiovascular disease (CVD) or vasculopathy sickness.
"We are delighted to be part of this initiative that aligns with the mission of KTMB; to provide safe, reliable, comfortable and sustainable rail services on time, every time," stated CEO of KTMB Berhad, Datuk Mohd Rani Hisham Samsudin.
Consultant Cardiologist of CVSKL, Dr. Surendran Thuraisingham, also highlighted in his speech "This collaboration allows us to address patients' needs at the same time looking after their transportation welfare, which is what we as a hospital aim to achieve’’.
‘’To envision the patient's journey even before they get to the hospital and to make it easier for them. CVSKL hints at more partnerships with other rail lines, to further serve the community’’ he further added.
Both parties also hope that with the new initiative, fellow Malaysians will take advantage of the free rides provided specially for CVSKL patients.
