Mercedes-Ben recently announced its plans to experiment with ChatGPT, an AI-powered chatbot. The move is aimed towards enhancing customer experience by leveraging cutting-edge tech to engage with clients in a more personalised and efficient manner.
For the uninitiated, ChatGPT is a language model created by OpenAI. Though use of AI (Artificial Intelligence) chatbots in the automotive industry is not new, Mercedes’s collaboration with ChatGPT is indeed quite unique.
Key highlights sees the ChatGPT AI chatbot answering customer queries about various aspects of Mercedes-Benz cars, including specifications, features, and pricing. It can also provide information on available services such as maintenance and repair, plus personalised recommendations based on customer's preferences as well as driving habits.
“Software is a core competence for a car company," said Mercedes-Benz Group CEO, Ola Källenius. The exec adds that “Whatever form voice commands take in future Mercedes cars, the tech will need to be easy for everyone to use, quick to respond, and bug-free. That's harder than it sounds, but we hope Mercedes' experiments yield results,’’ added the exec in a recent interview with US title MotorTrend.
To sum up, Mercedes’s experiment with ChatGPT AI represents a brave and ground-breaking strategy for the marque as it seeks to improve customer experience. This could also be seen as a strategic move to differentiate themselves whilst also staying ahead of the curve too.
