The Malaysian government has received several proposals from the private sector for its Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) project

.

“Yes, several companies did reach out, but everything is still in its infancy. There is no solid, concrete proposal that the government can consider at the moment,” said Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

“Things are still at a very preliminary stage,” he said as he confirmed that a request for information (RFI) process for the HSR project is ongoing, with the process being conducted by MyHSR Corporation Sdn Bhd, a special purpose vehicle under the Finance Ministry.

Five companies were reportedly called for a meeting recently, though nothing has been confirmed as of yet, according to another reliable online source.

The local news portal noted that in addition to MMC Corp, WCT Holdings, Berjaya Group, and Malaysian Resources Corp, Gamuda and other construction firms like IJM Corp and Sunway Construction are likely to hold similar meetings in the near future.

Earlier this month on March 8, the minister highlighted in Parliament indicating that the HSR project will continue to be built as long as it does not involve government funding.

As reported before, the iconic project sums up to RM110 billion which includes 350 kilometers of development and aim to enable non-stop travel from Bandar Malaysia in KL to Singapore’s Jurong East within 90 minutes.

Aptly, another transit service will also operate along the express service to allow ‘’stops’’ at Bandar Malaysia, Sepang-Putrajaya, Seremban, Melaka (Alor Gajah), Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri as well as Jurong East.

Aside from three co-located Customs, Immigration & Quarantine (CIQ) facilities being made available, this approach could benefit both Malaysian and Singaporean border formalities for seamless travel in both directions.
