Toyota Aygo X Undercover Special Struts In Style During Paris Fashion Week

The 2023 Paris Fashion Week returned in high style recently, and it saw Japanese auto giant Toyota participating in perhaps the most fitting way. Unveiled during the festivities was a Aygo X Undercover supermini that was styled in collaboration with high-end Japanese fashion brand Undercover.

The Undercover label was founded by Jun Takahashi, a renowned Japanese fashion mogul who cherishes art, streetwear, and music subcultures. According to Jun, his ideas for the Aygo X Undercover project began with incorporating rare elements that imply non-conformity or more into breaking the world’s stereotypes.

The Japanese ‘auto-fashion’ collaboration has led to a unique compact crossover design mixing a hint of punk-couture blends with digital analog elements. In fact, these striking elements are displayed on the front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper.

Besides that, the Aygo X Undercover sports a striking two-tone grey paint scheme that’s accentuated with a gloss black-finished rear fascia plus Toyota's infamous coral red hues. Adding to that, it implies a stylish set of 18-inch wheels as well.

The chic styling motif continues inside the cabin space where a few tweaks have been incorporated. Amongst them are branded seats and floor mats covered in all flashing red hues and striking patterns. Adding on to its funky layout, the Aygo X Undercover’s roof is also adorned with ‘’CHAOS’’ and ‘’BALANCE" motto stickers.

Head Of Styling Design For Toyota Europe, Tadao Mori quoted “We knew that Undercover could further expand the strong character of the Aygo X and we were excited to explore how Jun’s fashion language could be translated into the car development process”

Under the hood, the Aygo X Undercover employs the base Aygo model’s 1.0-litre naturally aspirated 3-cyl rated at 71 HP and 93 NM. It’s paired with either a 5-speed manual or an S-CVT automatic box. Similar to European-spec Yaris, the Ayga underpins the Toyota GA-B platform.

With the 5-speed manual box, Toyota claims the Aygo despatches 0-100 KM/H in 14.9 seconds plus a top speed of 158 KM/H. The S-CVT version does the century sprint in 14.8 seconds instead, but also gets a lower 151 KM/H top speed.

Just 5,000 units of the limited-edition Aygo X Undercover are set for market release. In Europe, keen fashionistas can register their interest to acquire this special via a dedicated micro-site, though no prices or delivery timeframe were revealed at the time of writing.
