The local SUV scene is about to get more interesting as Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has officially opened the order books for the all-new Hyundai Creta. This new B-segment car is poised to join the marque’s current SUV offerings, comprising of the Kona and Palisade.

Coming in a single 1.5 Plus variant, the Creta is powered by a 1.5-litre 4-cyl Smartstream mill rated at 113 HP and 143.8 NM. Power is then delivered to its front wheels (FWD) via a Smartstream Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) gearbox, propelling this compact SUV from nought to 100 KM/H in 12 seconds.

As for the size, the Creta measures 4,315 MM long, 1,790 MM wide, 1,630 MM tall, and a wheelbase of 2,610 MM. This, in turn, slots the car nicely amongst its B-SUV local rivals such as the Honda HR-V and Proton X50.

In terms of exterior package, the Malaysian-bound Creta 1.5 Plus spec mirrors the Indonesian one. At front, it sports the Parametric Jewel design, featuring the cascading front grille design and LED DRLs that mimics its bigger SUV sibling, the Palisade.

Elsewhere, you’ll get 17-inch alloy wheels with full-size spare tyre, LED combination headlights, as well as five exterior hues to choose from – Galaxy Blue Pearl, Midnight Black Pearl, Titan Grey Metallic, Creamy White Pearl, and Dragon Red Pearl.

On board, this variant comes equipped with a slew of tech equipment, including the 8-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Drivers, on the other hand, will get a bigger 10.25-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel with manual telescopic adjustment and audio control buttons, as well as four driving modes to choose from.

Topping off the Creta’s tech amenities are the four speakers plus two tweeters sound system, rear-view camera system with parking guide, three USB ports, rear climate vents, as well as smart key with push start and remote start functions.

On the safety front, the Creta sports Hyundai’s latest SmartSense ADAS suite, which brings features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) with Lane Following Assist (LFA), Driver Attention Warning (DAW), Leading Vehicle Departure Alert (LVDA), Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance-Assist (RCCA), and many more

The all-new Hyundai Creta 1.5 Plus is now available for booking via any Hyundai dealers nationwide, or customers can visit Hyundai Malaysia’s official website to place their bookings. As for now, HSDM has yet to unveil the final retail price for this B-SUV, but expect it to be somewhere around the RM100,000 to RM130,000 mark, factoring its retail price at neighbouring markets like Indonesia and Thailand.

Folks, what are your thoughts on this upcoming Hyundai Creta? Would you take this Korean-flavoured SUV over the likes of Proton X50, Honda HR-V or Toyota Corolla Cross? As always, leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
