JPJ Issues More Than 14K Notices, 500 Motorcycles Seized

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) recently issued a total of 14,514 notices. According to Bernama, this is due to various offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333) while 500 motorcycles were confiscated through HRA 2023 Integrated (Advocacy and) Motorcycle Ops from April 18 to 25


These notices were issued after inspections were carried out and seized 51,039 motorcycles. Senior JPJ Enforcement Director, Datuk Lokman Jamaan, said that said actions were due to the lack of insurance coverage, driving licence whilst the rest involves 291 Point of Duty (POD) locations across the country.

There were six most popular and highest offences comprises of no driving licence with 4,583 notices issued, expired vehicle licence (LKM) (2,600 notices), no insurance (2,364 notices), expired driving licence (168 notices), not wearing a helmet (160 notices) including violating traffic lights (120 notices). 


During a press conference on Wednesday (April 26), the director explained "according to a study, the correct use of a helmet can reduce injuries by 25%. Therefore, strict advocacy and enforcement measures will continue to be implemented by JPJ to reduce the rate of accidents and fatal accidents among motorcyclists,"




Earlier, he officiated the Special Motorcycle Ops for the state of Perak in conjunction with the HRA 2023 Integrated Ops here. 


Meanwhile, Perak's Special Motorcycle Ops that starts from April 18 to 25 reported a total of 7,146 motorcycles were inspected while action was taken against 1,313 motorcyclists under Act 333.
