The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has appointed Mr. Mohd Shamsor bin Mohd Zain as the new president. Announced during their 24th Annual Grand Meeting held at Sheraton Petaling Jaya, Shamsor took over the firm’s leadership for the 2023/2034 term, following the passing of MAA’s long-serving president, the late Datuk Aishah Ahmad.

Mohd Shamsor bin Mohd Zain had his previous stint in the local automotive industry as the marketing director for UMW Toyota Motor (UMWTM). Commenting on his recent appointment, Mr. Mohd Shamsor said, “We will continue with the many good work undertaken by the late Datuk Aishah Ahmad, upholding the strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as government ministries and agencies, as well as the media”.

“Together with all MAA members, we will grow this association from strength to strength, for the good of our industry, society and country. I look forward to the continued strong support from all MAA members as we contribute to the robust development of the nation’s automotive industry,” said the newly-appointed president.

Both Tan and Sarly will be joined by Mr. Low Yuan Lung from Sime Darby Auto Hyundai (SDAH) Sdn Bhd, who was elected to complete the firm’s vice-presidents line-up. Aside from that, Mr. Arman Mahadi from Daihatsu Malaysia Sdn Bhd was re-elected as Honorary Secretary/Treasurer of the MAA.

The MAA’s council for the 2023/2034 term was also expanded, where Mr. Syed Muzri Syed Faiz from Jaguar Land Rover Malaysia (JLRM) has been elected as the newest council member. He’ll be joining the five other re-elected council members, including:

  • Mr. Derrick Sim of Hap Seng Trucks Distribution Sdn Bhd

  • Mr. David Nah of Isuzu Malaysia Sdn Bhd
