Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance Edition 1 Is A More Stylish & Pricier S63
The all-new 2023 Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance is already making headlines as probably the most powerful S-Class model ever. But this Super-PHEV is getting a new special version, in the form of a fully souped-up Edition 1.
This plug-in hybrid (PHEV) AMG model improves upon its standard S63 E Performance twin by coming standard in a bevy of styling updates. On the styling front, the S63 Edition 1 is painted in special Manufaktur Alpine Grey Uni colourway, while riding on a set of 21-inch AMG forged wheels.
Elsewhere, this already aggressive-looking AMG model is also getting the AMG Exterior Night package, which adds a slew of dark chrome and gloss black exterior parts. These include parts like the front nose, side skirts, mirror caps, window surround trim, as well as the quad-pipe AMG exhaust system.
Topping-off the exterior update is the inclusion of silver-chrome fuel cap with AMG embossing, tinted glass, as well as red brake callipers to match the high-performance carbon ceramic brake discs.
The red accent theme goes on inside the S63 Edition 1, where Mercedes described its seats and steering wheel are wrapped with black Nappa leather upholstery with red accents and stitching. Unfortunately, the German automaker has yet to publish any official photos of said cabin space, so you’ll just have to imagine the white-themed standard S63 cabin in black and red instead.
To denote this car as a special Edition 1 version, folks at Affalterbach have taken the effort to etch a special Edition 1 nameplate for the car, mounted at the car’s central console. Finally, this special model also comes with illuminated door sills with red AMG logo.
On the performance front, the S63 Edition 1 still employs the same 4.0-litre V8 biturbo mill that works in tandem with the PHEV electric motor system to deliver 791 HP and 1,430 NM. This figure is good enough to propel the S63 from nought to 100 KM/H in 3.3 seconds, while the PHEV system provides an all-electric range of 53 KM.
The S63 E Performance is capable of reaching an electronically-governed V-max of 250 KM/H as standard. Fortunately the Edition 1 version now comes with an AMG Driver’s Package add-on that boosts its top speed up to 290 KM/H.
The special Mercedes-AMG S63 E Performance Edition 1 is now on sale in Germany for €208,392 (RM1 million approx.), while opting for all the add-ons offered like the aforementioned AMG Driver’s Package will further boost its price tag up to €230,000 (RM1.104 million). Drivers will get a complementary indoor car cover that is made of tear-resistant synthetic fabric, with anti-static inner lining made of woven flannel. Local deliveries are scheduled to commence next month.
Should you think the S63’s PHEV V8 powertrain is not powerful enough, then you can opt for a V12-powered S-Class in the form of the Mercedes-Maybach S680 4Matic instead. This range-topping S-Class commands a heftier price tag of €230,556 (RM1.107 million approx.), and that does not include any add-ons.
