Setel Launches New ‘Setel Lite’ App for Slower Devices & Poor Connection

Local refuelling solutions provider Setel has launched a new, lighter version of its app, known as the ‘Setel Lite’. This app is tailored to handle slower devices and can be used even in poor internet connectivity situations – ideal for usage in rural areas.

Commenting on this new app launch, Setel CEO Mazlin Erawati Ab Manan said, “With a desire to delight our customers in everything we do, Setel Lite was built as a product of listening to our customers, understanding their mobility pain points and continuously innovating for inclusive mobility.

“With Setel Lite, we hope to make the refuelling experience via the Setel app more accessible and user-friendly to the underserved segment with limited connectivity and phone functionality,” the CEO added.

Featuring a smaller download size, this ‘lite’ app can support Android devices that run older versions of Android suite, starting from the Android 4.4 or EMUI 3 onwards. Additionally, Setel claims this lightweight version of its app can even run on slower internet connectivity like EDGE, 2G, and 3G – ensuring users can keep using Setel to fill up their vehicles wherever they are.

Setel Lite features a much simpler layout with larger fonts and buttons, so that elders now can use them easily. This simplified layout came at a cost, as Setel Lite only carries essential features and functions like refuelling, earning and checking your Mesra points balance, as well as paying via the Setel Family Wallet feature.

Just like the standard app, Setel Lite utilises the Setel Wallet system for fuel and other forms of purchases. Said wallet system is reloadable not only with the credit/debit card, and online banking, but also with cash, available at any Petronas stations nationwide.

The Setel Lite app is now available for use at any Petronas stations nationwide. While the app currently features simple and basic functionalities, more features will be added and rolled out step-by-step in the near future. Users now can earn up to three times Mesra Points with fuel payments, where they can later check their Mesra points balance via this simplified app.

The new Setel Lite app is now available for free at Google Play store, and soon to be available in Huawei AppGallery. For more information on Setel, users can visit Setel’s official website.
