- Ferrari KC23 Debuts As Stunning One-Off Track Monster
New Ferrari KC23 lands as bespoke one-off track monster!
2023 has been quite a year so far for Ferrari. Aside from clinching the centenary Le Mans title, the Italian marque is also fresh from expanding its extreme XX-series range, launching the Ferrari SF90 XX late last month. It seems the Prancing Horse isn’t slowing down any time soon, as they unveiled its latest creation, the Ferrari KC23.
Mind you, the KC23 is a bespoke, one-off model commissioned by one Ferrari superfan. Based on the already extreme Ferrari 488 GT3 EVO, the KC23 is donned with butterfly-style doors, while adopting several styling cues from other special Ferrari models like the Vision Gran Turismo and its Le Mans-winning hypercar, the Ferrari 499P.
As a result, this ‘souped-up’ 488 GT3 Evo gains a slew of new aero parts, including its massive GT-style removable rear wing, as well as the active aero body panels at the front, which can be opened to reveal the air intakes and vents. In spite of being a track-only car, the KC23 is not draped in standard Scuderia racing livery, as the ‘superfan’ commissioned the car with a new paint job known as Gold Mercury.
Elsewhere, the KC23 gets side cameras instead of physical mirrors, while riding on staggered 21-inch front and 22-inch rear alloy wheels. Mind you, said wheels are only used when the KC23 is on display, as the car gets additional 18-inch wheels shodded in slick racing rubbers for track usage.
Being a track-exclusive model, the KC23’s innards are being kept as minimal as possible, only featuring two bucket seats. Aside from the racing buckets, the car also gets standard racing equipment like the race-spec steering wheel with multiple controls, full roll cage, as well as several other driving-related controls on the front dash.
Ferrari, however, did not disclose any powertrain details of the KC23, so we’re not sure whether it still harnesses the same 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8 setup as the 488 GT3 Evo. For reference, this V8 setup grants the 488 GT3 Evo a maximum output of 600 HP at 7,000 RPM and 700 NM at 6,000 RPM.
While the KC23 is a one-off bespoke project, Ferrari insists that this model provides a "tantalising glimpse" to future Ferrari models, though we suspect they won’t be as aggressive as this track monster. The one-off KC23 is due to make its public debut at the ongoing 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed that runs throughout this weekend.
