GEELY To Invest RM45 Billion To Revamp Tanjung Malim Into Regional Auto Hub
Geely, has announced plans to invest US$10 billion (RM45 billion) in transforming Tanjung Malim, Perak, into the region's largest automotive hub said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Anwar further disclosed that the corporation sent him a lengthy 10-page letter expressing their desire to develop the area into a vibrant automotive hub.
Geely, holds 49.9% stake in Proton and the fundamental goal of this investment is to provide numerous job opportunities for Malaysians, said Anwar. Speaking at the Selangor state-level Sentuhan Agro Madani programme, he emphasised that Geely's proposal is driven solely by the vision of bolstering the nation's economy and providing secure employment opportunities for thousands of young Malaysians.
Geely's investment in Tanjung Malim, with its significant knowledge and resources in the automotive sector, holds great promise for boosting Malaysia's auto manufacturing capabilities to new heights. The project is projected to usher in a surge of technological improvements, economic expansion, and enhanced prosperity for the region and the country as a whole as it progresses.
Furthermore, this strategic alliance is expected to establish the groundwork for a thriving automotive ecosystem in Tanjung Malim, cementing the city-state's status as a vital player in the global automotive market.
