Lambo's first EV model is officially coming!

Lamborghini’s latest press release saw the Italian automaker confirming our previous report on how the Revuelto is already sold out for two years, citing rave receptions as key factors. Beyond that, the automaker also confirmed yet another rumours going on pertaining to its first-ever all-electric model.

Lamborghini CEO and President Stephan Winkelmann

Just like what we’ve expected, the first EV to be rolled out of Sant’Agata Bolognese facility will take shape as a more practical 2+2 grand tourer, instead of mid-engined sportscars the marque is known for. However, details about this new EV GT by Lambo remains shrouded in mystery, except for the fact that it’ll be a “much more daily usable” compared to its supercars, with more ground clearance, according to Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

As for the specs, Lambo’s head honcho also hinted that this EV GT will be sharing several mechanical bits, notably its platform, from the marque’s overlord, the Volkswagen Group. Mind you, this is not the first time Lambo has called VW for help, as the Urus SUV shares most of its mechanical bits with the likes of the Bentley Bentayga, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7/Q8, as well as the VW Touareg.

Both the Lamborghini Urus (left) and Huracan successors will feature a PHEV powertrain

Ahead of the EV GT’s 2028 launch, Lamborghini will launch several more electrified models that will replace the Urus and Huracan – both getting a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. While no details were shared on it, we expect it’ll be a less extreme version of the V12 PHEV setup we saw on the new Revuelto. Beyond that, the Urus will eventually get an all-electric variant, which expectedly to be launched after the EV GT model.

In the meantime, folks won’t be able to purchase any new Lamborghini models, as all of them, including the last few production units of the Huracan and Urus, have all been sold out. While we’ve already mentioned that the Revuelto’s order books have been closed for two years, folks can still book them now, with deliveries for new bookings won’t be done until the second half of 2025.
