It’s official. The Malaysian Automotive Association (MAA) has confirmed that the Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show (KLIMS) will make a return next year. This was announced during the last press conference held by the association, where they presented the vehicle production and sales report for both first half of 2023 (1H2023) and June 2023.

Last held in 2018, MAA’s new president Mohd Shamsor Mohd Zain confirmed that KLIMS will be held next year, with exact dates and venue to be announced later this year. Earlier this year, MAA previously announced that they might bring back KLIMS in 2024, as then president – the late Datuk Aishah Ahmad – announced during MAA’s 2022 yearly review.

"Motor show? Maybe 2024. "I hope the media will support us," Datuk Aishah said when asked if there will be another edition of KLIMS held some time in the future.

Aside from MARii’s Malaysian Autoshow (MAS), KLIMS is one of the biggest, if not the biggest automotive expos in the country, as well as one of the most important in the region. The last edition of KLIMS was held back in 2018, where it saw several automakers – both local and international – showcasing their new and upcoming models, while making automotive fans excited for the future with concept models and prototypes showcases.

Apart from the positive growth of the total industry volume so far this year, the return of KLIMS also indicates that the local automotive industry has recovered from the post-pandemic economic effects.

So folks, excited to see KLIMS back next year? What models or car brands are you excited the most to see at KLIMS 2024? As always, don’t forget to leave your thoughts in the comments down below…
