- Porsche Adds Auto Controls To Apple CarPlay
With a new update, Porsche now allows Apple CarPlay users to control more vehicle functions than ever before. The company claims to be the first to offer an interface that will allow Apple CarPlay customers to access climate control, ambient lighting, radio station, and audio settings without having to exit the iPhone integration software. The update will also enable Siri to be used to adjust these functions in the car.
The enhanced functionality will be available in the updated Cayenne, which will be available in the third quarter of 2023, and will be gradually rolled out to other models. More updates will be released as more functionality is added to Apple CarPlay, according to the company. Porsche will also allow drivers to view images of their specific model in Apple CarPlay and on the My Porsche App for smartphones.
You can also use this app to change the air conditioning, ambient lighting, and audio settings, send destinations to the navigation system, and check the battery level. Customers can also combine functions into wellness modes by using Apple CarPlay.
The My Porsche App also connects existing accounts with third-party providers, such as Apple Music, to the infotainment system's associated apps.
Drivers can quickly connect their phones to their car by scanning a QR code displayed on the vehicle's infotainment system. Last year, Apple announced plans to significantly revamp CarPlay, allowing it to control more vehicle functions. It stated at the time that it intends to introduce a tri-screen display setup, as well as more developed widgets, by the end of 2023.
The next generation of CarPlay will be supported by models from a variety of manufacturers, including JLR, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Ford, Renault, Volvo, Honda, and Nissan.
