- Section 11 Of the West Coast Expressway Will Complete By Year End
West Coast Expressway Sdn Bhd (WCESB) plans to open four more sections of the West Coast Expressway by the end of the year, including the SKVE, Banting, Assam Jawa, and South Taiping sections.
WCE Highway operations manager Syed Muhd Naguib Syed Mohd told Bernama that the 35-kilometer (km) Section 11, Beruas-South Taiping section is 88% complete and will be operational by the end of the year. According to Naguib, the construction involves elements of engineering, toll, slope, and mechanical work at the moment. He also stated that WCE will construct an animal box culvert as an environmental conservation measure because the route will pass through Bubu Forest Reserve.
“WCE also intended to build two electric vehicle charging stations at Lekir and Teluk Intan, as well as four Rest and Service Areas (R&R) — Teluk Intan R&R (north and south), Sungai Wangi R&R (south), Ayer Tawar R&R (north), and Sg Nyior R&R (north and south)”, he added.
He also stated that the number of vehicles passing through the WCE has increased by 30%, to 50,000 to 60,000 vehicles per day.
“During the recent Aidilfitri celebrations, traffic volume reached 100,000 vehicles a day and 85,000 for Raya Aidiladha,” he said.
