- First Batch Of GWM Cannon Pick-Up Trucks Now In Malaysia

It seems 66 units of the new GWM Cannon pick-up truck have made landfall in Malaysia.
It seems the first batch of the new GWM Cannon pick-up truck has made landfall, at least according to GWM Malaysia via their latest Instagram post. The firm notes that 66 units are now in the country and prospecting buyers can take a closer look at their nearest GWM showroom nationwide.
Through said post, the firm notes that 66 units were brought in in conjunction with the nation’s upcoming 66th national day this month. However, GWM Malaysia has skirted away from revealing any further details, namely as to which variants of the Cannon were brought in, as well as a launch date or official price.
Regarding the latter, the best lead we’ve gotten so far was a supposed leaked brochure published on social media by an eager dealer last month. It specifically detailed the Cannon in passenger-focused P12 ‘Ultra’ guise, hence the relatively rich list of on board kit and amenities listed.
Through said lead, we are also led to believe that GWM Malaysia is poised to offer the Cannon P12 Ultra at RM127,800 on-the-road sans insurance. Notable here too is perhaps the planned inclusion of a 5-year or 150,000 KM warranty coverage.

For Malaysia, GWM is poised to offer the Cannon in both a commercial-focused 'P11' workhorse (left) and passenger-focused 'P12 Ultra' (right) guises.
Whilst we await further details from GWM Malaysia, we refresh your memory about the GWM Cannon Ultra pick-up truck range. Previewed during the Malaysia Autoshow 2023 earlier this year, the model is also set to be available locally in a commercial-focused P11 workhorse guise.
Both the P11 and P12 are set to harness a 2.0-litre 4-cyl turbo-diesel heart paired with a ZF-sourced 8-speed automatic box, the former rated at 161 HP and 400 NM, and the latter primed further with a full-blown 4x4 driveline – a typical expectation of any pick-up truck offering entering our market.

A very unique feature primed in the GWM Cannon is this integrated tailgate ladder - a feature absent in most, if not all, its segment rivals.
In terms of kit, the GWM Cannon is set to bring forth a host of amenities and features on board, but what’s rather unique in this marketspace is a neat integrated tailgate ladder designed to bolster both utility and practicality. There’s also the promise of Level 2 semi-autonomous driving abilities to boot too.
Besides the usual brigade of Japanese fighters (read: Toyota, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, and Nissan) and a certain dominating Blue Oval marque offering, the GWM Cannon is also poised to rival strongly against other key China-made offerings like the Peugeot Landtrek, JMC Vigus Pro, and perhaps the Maxus T70 as well.
We’ll have more on the GWM Cannon pick-up truck range as soon as details are made available. Though judging from the Instagram post mentioned, we likely won’t have long to wait.
