- Lamborghini New EV Concept Leaked Ahead of MCW Debut
Automobili Lamborghini is set to unveil its first-ever all-electric model this weekend, happening at this year's Monterey Car Week (MCW). However, one day (or hours) before its intended global debut, several images of the supposed EV concept have leaked online, unveiling a tall-riding, SUV-esque grand tourer model.
Posted by Instagram user @cardesignworld, these set of images have depicted the new Lambo EV concept as a tall-riding sportscar, cordially named the Lamborghini Lanzador. Meaning ‘launcher’ in Spanish, this EV concept boasts several familiar design cues we saw on existing Lambo models, notably the Urus and the Sian.

At a glance, one can be forgiven for mistaking this EV concept for the rugged Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato, as the Lanzador sports a rather prominent ground clearance, courtesy of the ginormous set of wheels the EV concept rides on. Apart from that, the car comes with the standard wedge-style silhouette, featuring sharp LED headlights and Sian-style taillights, as well as a rather elongated and sleek greenhouse – indicating that this could come with a 2+2 seating configuration.

This turns out to be true as we scroll through the leaked interior images of this EV concept, which showcases a stunning cabin design. All passengers will get sporty bucket-style seats with full-sized headrests embossed with Lambo’s iconic raging bull emblem. Drivers, on the other hand, will get a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel with a slim digital instrument cluster hiding behind them.

Meanwhile, the central infotainment display is positioned on the passenger side of the front dash, while the floating central console houses most of the car’s physical buttons and controls, including the signature jet fighter-style push-start button.
While most of the car’s visuals can be seen from this set of leaked images, the same can’t be said about the powertrain specs, as well as other mechanical bits on this EV concept. We’ve previously reported that Lambo’s EV concept will possibly share the same components with other EV models from the VW Group. This could mean that this EV gran tourer might share similar components with the likes of Porsche Taycan, Audi e-tron GT, and more.

As we mentioned earlier, Lamborghini is planning to unveil its first EV model at the ongoing Monterey Car Week 2023, which is scheduled to take place later today (Aug 18). By then, we’ll get to know whether these leaked images are true after all, as well as whether this new model will carry the same ‘Lanzador’ nameplate.
