The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department's (JSPT) statewide traffic campaign "Ops Garisan Putih" intends to crack down on wayward motorists who halt their vehicles beyond the white line at traffic lights. According to Datuk Mohd Nasri Omar, Deputy Director of the JSPT, Rule 38 of the Road Traffic Rules (LN166/1959) prohibits vahicles from stopping beyond the white line, particularly when hindering pedestrian crossings.

The regulation states that motorists should not stop their vehicles in the crossing area unless forced to do so by unavoidable circumstances or to avoid an accident. Those found guilty of this offence could face an RM2,000 fine or a six-month prison sentence.

Mohd Nasri also emphasised the need of following traffic laws in order to avoid road congestion, accidents, and disruptions to other road users. Furthermore, Bukit Aman JSPT has launched six special operations which focuses on traffic lights, licence plates, traffic blockages, unlawful parking, and educational programmes in order to promote awareness and educate motorists.

These activities will be carried out around the country in order to encourage road users to follow traffic restrictions. In order to guarantee road safety and effective traffic flow, officials urge everyone to respect traffic laws without exception.
