Toyota GR Corolla RZ Edition Sold Via Lottery In Japan - Only 550 Units Made!
Toyota Gazoo Racing would be offering the enhanced GR Corolla in Japan which would go on sale via a lottery system with initial production limited to just 550 units. The online lottery application period will be open from August 23, until September 11, 2023.
The enhanced GR Corolla RZ would feature tweeks based on insights gathered from various motorsports activities Toyota Gazoo Racing participants in including the Super Taikyu series. The primary focus on the enhancements are to elevate the precision and stability of the driving experience.
The key enhancements would include:
Enhanced Precision in Handling:
- Certain chassis bolts have been replaced with ones designed to enhance fastening rigidity. This results in improved responsiveness to steering operations and heightened stability during straight-line driving, creating a more profound connection between the driver and the car.
Improved Bolts Design to Increase Rigidity:
- Addition of rib-shaped features to the bolt flange of the front suspension, steering and gearbox.
- Enlargement of the bolt head size for the rear suspension component bolted to the body.
Improved Stability:
- The design of the front bumper duct has been optimised to enhance airflow within the wheelhouse, ultimately contributing to improved steering stability.
Additionally, a new limited-run colour option will be introduced, expanding the range to include six colour choices. A total of 50 units featuring the "metallic cyan" exterior option will be produced, complete with an exclusive "black x blue" interior upholstery.
Toyota has mentioned that as the semiconductor shortage issues ease, there is a possibility of producing more units of this now limited-run model. The GR Corolla RZ will be priced at 5,250,000 YEN (approximately RM167,000) in Japan. Do expect some Malaysian grey importers to sneak a few units here at a premium ask very soon.
