TTAP & YRMS Provide Selangor Youths Apprenticeship Opportunities with Porsche
The Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Program (TTAP) under Persona Energy has penned a new strategic partnership with Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS) to provide apprenticeship opportunities for Selangor youths with renowned motorsporting firm, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific.
YRMS patron HRH RMS Tengku Amir Shah with Selangor youths selected for the apprenticeship
This collaboration will see selected youths living in Selangor to be directly involved in the local motorsports industry, aiming to showcase and polish the skills and talent these youths possess, which otherwise will be wasted should such programmes not exist. Through this latest venture with YRMS, selected Selangor youths will undergo an apprenticeship program with the prestigious German-based motorsporting firm.
Malaysian racing driver & Persona Energy executive director Jazeman Jaafar
Commenting on this momentous occasion, Persona Energy executive director Jazeman Jaafar said, “Since our inception three years ago we have produced about 100 apprentices, and they have received high praise within the industry for their competency.”
“This is the first programme in the region to have such a collaboration with a renowned name in the automotive and motorsport industry, and we are forging a clear path for young talents to enter the competitive world of motorsports,” Jazeman added.
The Technology Transfer Apprenticeship Programme is an initiative by Persona Energy to nurture local talent specifically in the field of technology, engineering and data acquisition, in the context of the automotive sector.
His Royal Highness Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah
Meanwhile, Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor was launched by then Sultan of Selangor, His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj back in 2003, with the foundation’s current patron being the Crown Prince of Selangor, His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah.
The 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup held in Sepang International Circuit will be the youths' first battleground
Through this new partnership between TTAP and YRMS, the selected youths will be placed at Porsche Motorsport’s training facility located in Porsche Centre Ara Damansara. All five of them will be given an extensive training course guided by seasoned professionals from the firm, before joining Porsche Motorsport technicians in the 2023 Porsche Carrera Cup Asia Championship (PCCA).
Beyond the PCCA, these youths will gradually stepped-up the motorsport pyramid laid out by Porsche Motorsport, where they will participate in other higher level racing programmes in various GT3 and GT2-class racing series, before reaching its pinnacle at the World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship.
At these two globally-renowned competitions, Porsche will be outfitting its Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) model, the Porsche 963 LMDh under teams like the Porsche-Penske Motorsport and Hertz Team Jota – the latter being the same team Jazeman used to race with as a reserve driver in last year’s WEC season.
