Putrajaya Agrees To Grant APs To Sarawak To Import EVs, Hydrogen-Powered Vehicles
The Federal Government has agreed to implement tax breaks for EVs and hydrogen-powered vehicles, as well as to grant Sarawak Approve Permits (APs) to import 1000 units of the vehicles, Malay Mail reported.
“You know what happened two days ago? Federal Government has agreed to give incentives for EV and hydrogen-powered vehicles by giving an exemption on tax,”
“Secondly, federal government has agreed to issue AP for Sarawak to import 1000-unit vehicles that use hydrogen or EV,”
“This is the first incentive that the Federal Government gives. They give to Sarawak first and we will promote EVs,” he said.
Last month, Sarawak began testing its first Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Hydrogen Vehicle (H2V). It is said to be the world's first hydrogen-powered smart tram, and it will undergo a two-month engineering run beginning September 4th.
The test is being conducted on a loop road that connects the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, the Menara Sarawak Energy, the Menara SEDC, and the Menara LCDA at the Kuching Isthmus.
This marks yet another significant milestone for the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) which is expected to begin carrying passengers starting from the fourth quarter of 2025.
