- smart #1 Now Open For Booking – 3 Variants, From RM200K

After launching a new mobile app and making its public debut, the much-anticipated smart #1 EV SUV is finally open for booking. As announced by smart Malaysia (PRO-NET) in conjunction with the signing of an enhanced Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between smart and Proton, the #1 EV SUV will arrive in three variants for the Malaysian market – Pro, Premium, and Brabus.

The smart #1 Pro will be the baseline variant for the EV SUV model
Starting with the baseline Pro variant, this EV SUV is juiced by a 49-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack that provides it with a maximum WLTP range of 315 KM, while harnessing a single, rear-mounted (RWD) electric motor rated at 272 PS (200 kW) and 343 NM. Said battery pack can accept DC fast charging at 150 kW, while AC charging rate is capped at 7.2 kW, with the former allowing the #1 Pro to be charged from 10% to 80% in 22 minutes, while the latter method takes about six hours.

As for the equipment, the baseline #1 Pro gets a pretty decent kit, which includes CyberSparks LED headlights, 19-inch ‘Amps’ alloy wheels, and powered tailgate. Meanwhile, the cabin is also primed with decent equipment, such as the panoramic halo roof, basic 64-colour ambient lighting system, 10-way power adjustable front seats with leatherette upholstery, 12.8-inch infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 9.2-inch digital instrument cluster, and many more.

smart #1 Premium EV SUV
Moving to the mid-specced variant, the smart #1 Premium gets a larger 66-kWh nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery pack which garners it with a claimed WLTP range of 440 KM. Powered by the same RWD powertrain setup as the Pro, the #1 Premium can blast from nought to 100 KM/H in 6.7 seconds, en route to its limited V-max of 180 KM/H.
Charging figures are also slightly bolstered, as the #1 Premium comes with 22 kW AC charging capacity, allowing it to reach 10% to 80% state-of-charge (SOC) in 3 hours. Meanwhile, the faster 150 kW DC charging enables it to reach the same SOC in 29 minutes.

As expected, the #1 Premium we previewed earlier this year gets a better kit, which includes CyberSpark matrix LED headlights, stylish 19-inch ‘Rotor’ alloy wheels, while the powered tailgate gets an extra kick sensor function. On board, the #1 Premium gets all the same screens and gizmos as the Pro model, with the addition of 10-inch head-up display (HUD), extended ambient lighting system, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, illuminated door sill plates, and a 13-speaker Beats premium audio system.

The Brabus will be the range-topping spec for the smart #1, featuring a dual-motor AWD setup
Sitting atop of the #1 fleet is the souped-up Brabus variant, which gets the peppiest dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup rated at 428 PS (315 kW) and 543 NM. Juiced by the same 66-kWh NCM battery as the Premium, the #1 Brabus can rocket from nought to 100 KM/H in just 3.9 seconds, while its WLTP range is slightly reduced to 400 KM. Charging performance, on the other hand, is also similar to the #1 Premium variant.

As the sportiest of the three, the #1 Brabus gains a slew of sporty kit, including the red accents on its exterior, Brabus badging, special Brabus aero kit consisting of hood vent, front air diffuser, sporty rear wing, while riding on 19-inch ‘Dynamo’ alloy wheels, with a red-hued brake calliper hiding beneath it. As we’ve seen on the Hello smart mobile app before, the #1 Brabus also comes with a slew of two-tone exterior hue options with either a red or black roof.
However, smart Malaysia has yet to unveil any details regarding the #1 Brabus interior, but we can expect them to match the ones we saw on the international market, where it gets a slew of red accents with Brabus-embossed seats, same Beats sound system, and many more sporty bits.

At a price range of RM200,000 to RM250,000, would you be keen to book the smart #1?
Orders for the smart #1 EV SUV can now be made via the Hello smart mobile app at a refundable fee of RM1,000. As for the #1 lineup, smart Malaysia only revealed the estimated price range of between RM200,000 to RM250,000 on-the-road sans insurance, with all three models fully-imported (CBU) from smart’s production facility in Xi’an, China. On top of that, the first 501 customers who pre-ordered the #1 EV SUV is entitled to charging credits worth RM1,001, which will be presented when they take delivery of their new EV SUV.
