- Toyota's Global Sales, Output Reach New High In August

Toyota Motor said global production increased 4% year on year to 798,771 vehicles in August, setting a monthly record.
Domestic output for the world's largest automaker increased 22% year on year, offsetting a 2% drop in overseas output and highlighting the company's recovery from last year's semiconductor and supply chain issues, Reuters reported.

A malfunction that forced the company's domestic assembly plants to close for a day late last month had little effect on production.
Toyota increased production by 321% in India, where it benefits from a partnership with Suzuki Motor, to just over 32,000 vehicles.
According to Reuters, the automaker intends to build a third car plant in the country.
It reported a 9.8% increase in global sales in August to 853,285 vehicles, a monthly record.
Toyota's Lexus luxury brand is included in the production and sales figures. Sales in China fell by about 7%.
In contrast, domestic sales increased by 46%, while sales in the United States increased by 15%.
In August, the automaker sold 11,880 battery electric vehicles worldwide.
This brought the total number of battery EVs sold in the first eight months of 2023 to around 65,000, nearly all of which were sold in foreign markets.
