In a special ceremony held last weekend as part of a Proton-organised cycling event at it Tanjung Malim facility, these engines were handed over to representatives of these institutions by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) and Member of Parliament for Tanjong Malim YB Chang Lih Kang.

Amongst the institutions receiving these engines were Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah, Behrang, Kolej Vokasional Slim River, Giat Mara Tanjong Malim and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjong Malim.

A total of 7 engines were handed over to these institutions, which included the likes of Politeknik Sultan Azlan Shah,G Giat Mara Tanjong Malim, as well as UPSI.

These engines will now grant students with first-hand training and build knowledge in engine servicing and development, thus helping to also align their skills with ever increasing and evolving industry demands and standards.

“We hope the engines presented today will help advance the training programmes at the institutions and help train future talents for Malaysia’s automotive industry,” said Proton CEO DR Li Chunrong during the handover ceremony presided over by YB Chang.

As a refresher, these 1.5-litre TGDi engines donated are built on a new climate-controlled production line at Proton’s Tanjong Malim plant, and is renowned for its advanced technology and performance. Said engine’s facility was inaugurated late last year.
