- Ban On Car Window Tinting Is Unnecessary - Loke
Despite instances of parents leaving their kids in their cars, the government will not outlaw car window tinting, according to a statement made by Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
He acknowledged that dark tints may have played a part in these incidents, but said that outlawing tinting would not be a practical solution.
“Tinted glasses are an option; we are not asking everyone to put up tinted glasses. For parents with small kids, they are being advised to not put tinted glass,” he said.
“It is necessary for certain people, for health reasons, for security reasons, we cannot just because of one problem, ban the entire thing.” The proposal was made in response to three tragic events in the previous two months involving kids left in locked cars. One of the proposals received by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) asks for the prohibition of tinted car windows.
